Today marked a truly momentous ocassion for SOS Children's Villages in Botswana as we officially launched the 3rd Annual Charity Run/Walk which powered by Fearless Fitness Club, we also unveiled our incredible sponsors on the day. What began as a passionate effort to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable children has now become one of our most anticipated and impactful annual events and this year, it's bigger and better than ever.

Under the powerful theme and rallying call #GiveAChildASmile, the 2025 Charity Run/Walk is more than just a race, it’s a movement. It is a bold step forward in mobilizing communities, empowering youth, and building lasting change through love, support, and action.

The Launch Event: A Celebration of Partnership & Purpose

The launch was filled with energy, hope, and heartfelt collaboration. Held in SOS Children's Village in Tlokweng, the event brought together leaders, stakeholders, community members, and generous sponsors  all united by a shared commitment to the welfare of children in Botswana.

A Message of Hope and Transformation

During his keynote address, Mr. Motshwari Kitso, National Director of SOS Children’s Villages in Botswana, delivered a powerful message about the future of the organization and the critical role of local support.

He explained that Botswana is now classified withing the self-sustainability cluster, meaning the organisation is expected to progressively raise its own funds to support its programs. Each year, international funding is being reduced, with the ultimate goal of achieving 100% local sustainability in the near future. 

In addition to highlighting this financial shift, Mr. Kitso also shared exciting updates on the organization's evolution. SOS Children’s Villages in Botswana is moving toward a family-based, community-integrated care model, aimed at ensuring that children grow up in stable, loving environments that closely resemble family life.

This new approach represents a significant step forward in the organisation's mission to provide not just shelter, but holistic, nurturing care that enables every child to thrive.
