Standard Chartered Donates P600,000 in Emergency Relief Hampers to Flood-Affected Communities in collaboration with SOS Children's Villages Botswana

In response to the severe flooding that has impacted communities across Botswana, Standard Chartered Bank through the Bank’s local CSR vehicle, Standard Chartered Botswana Education Trust has pledged its support by donating emergency relief hampers worth P600,000. This initiative carried out in collaboration with SOS Children’s Village Botswana, aims to provide much-needed food and household supplies to affected areas that include Tlokweng, Francistown, Ghanzi, and D’Kar communities.

The recent floods, which have affected several parts of the country, have left many families without shelter and basic necessities and outreach efforts have come under strain in offering support and resources to these communities. The Trust partnered up with SOS Children’s Village, that not only has the outreach knowledge but network around the country to be able to reach a number of communities, simultaneously and bring much needed relief.

In the aftermath of the recent floods, Standard Chartered Botswana Education Trust acknowledges the anxiety and trauma children and their families are facing. With displacement, home damages and the loss of security, many are left vulnerable. The Trust’s purpose is to impact early childhood development in Botswana and this donation aims to minimise the disruption that young children and their families have had to deal with.
